The Oil Exploration Company Signs a Contract to Carry Out Seismic Survey Work with China's Zhenhua Company

 

Under the sponsorship of the Minister of Oil, expert engineer Bassem Muhammad Khudair, and in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Oil for Extraction Affairs, Mr. Nasir Aziz, and the Director General of the Oil Exploration Company, Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein, the Oil Exploration Company witnessed today, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the signing ceremony of the seismic survey contract with the Chinese company Zhenhua to implement the Abu Khaimah program in Muthanna province, as part of the license round (Fifth Addendum and Sixth Round).
The contract signing comes as part of the Ministry of Oil's efforts to expand seismic survey activities using the latest global technologies, helping to boost exploration, improve the evaluation of geological formations, and provide the technical data needed to develop oil fields and exploration blocks, in line with the ministry’s strategic plans to maximize hydrocarbon reserves and support national production. The Oil Exploration Company confirmed that the contract represents an important step in developing the exploration sector, reflecting its commitment to strengthening cooperation with specialized companies, transferring modern expertise and technologies to local staff, and enhancing their technical capabilities to support sustainable development of the oil sector in Iraq.
