IN Houston, Texas, Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met with representatives of several leading global energy companies as part of his official visit to the United States. The discussions, attended by Minister of Oil Eng. Basim Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi and SOMO Director General Eng. Ali Nizar Al-Shatari, focused on expanding cooperation and investment in Iraq’s energy sector.

The meetings included representatives from Halliburton, Shell, Honeywell, Weatherford, and Baker Hughes. Talks centered on opportunities to collaborate in developing Iraq’s oil and gas sectors, leveraging the advanced expertise and technologies of these companies to support Iraq’s plans for modernizing its oil industry and enhancing energy efficiency.

Prime Minister Al-Zaidi underscored the importance of building long-term strategic partnerships with leading international firms. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an attractive investment environment and providing all necessary facilitation to ensure the success and timely execution of projects in Iraq.

He further highlighted that the government prioritizes gas investment projects, increasing production, and strengthening industries linked to the energy sector, with the aim of maximizing revenues, supporting the national economy, and achieving sustainable development.

Company representatives expressed strong interest in expanding their investments in Iraq and affirmed their readiness to contribute to the implementation of strategic projects, particularly in oil and gas. They also voiced confidence in Iraq’s significant potential and the promising investment opportunities it offers.
