The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has announced urgent measures to resolve stalled projects and accelerate their completion. These projects are currently being executed by the Oil Projects Company (SCOP) on behalf of national oil companies.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Oil, the Deputy Minister for Extraction Affairs, Naseer Aziz, chaired an extensive meeting to review the status of delayed investment projects undertaken by SCOP. The meeting focused on establishing necessary solutions and interventions to overcome execution obstacles and expedite delivery timelines.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the critical need for strict adherence to approved project schedules, highlighting their direct role in supporting the oil sector’s development and production plans, enhancing infrastructure efficiency, and achieving sustainable development goals. He noted that the upcoming phase demands an increased pace of work and a swift, serious effort to address the root causes of delays, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency .

"Starting today, no unjustified delays or stagnations in project implementation will be tolerated," Aziz stated, underscoring that any entity responsible for delays will be held accountable under established legal frameworks and administrative procedures.

He further reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to bringing completed projects online within their designated timelines to maximize operational benefits and support production targets. He called for unified efforts among relevant stakeholders to resolve technical, administrative, and financial bottlenecks.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Minister directed the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to monitor stalled projects and implement clear evaluation and follow-up mechanisms, ensuring accelerated completion rates and a smooth transition to full operational status.
